FORMER VICE CHANCELLOR SHOT DEAD

Webdesk, TNI Bengaluru, 30th August, 2015: Police sources reported that the former Vice-Chancellor of Hampi University MM Kalburgi was shot dead by unidentified gunmen at his Kalyanagar residence today morning police said. The incident happened around 8:40 am today after the assailants went in his house pretending to be his students. The former VC, who was 77 years of age was shot in his head after he opened the door of his house in the morning Till now the assailants are untraceable. The former VC was rushed to a hospital where he was declared dead. He was a scholar, academic and researcher who had landed in controversy on several occasions for his remarks on religious, social and other issues. Apart from this Prof. Kalburti was also a recipient of Central and state Sahitya Academy awards.
